Overview
Ultimaker, the Dutch maker of professional desktop 3D printers, launched the S3 as an affordable entry into professional 3D printing: a printer designed so that anyone can get high-quality results after a short introduction, without a dedicated operator. Ease of use was the whole pitch, and this ad, part of the S3 “Humanity” series, had to make that point in a single 300×600 placement.
The Work
The ad opens on a black panel and one line, “A 3D printer is difficult to use.”, the assumption most buyers bring with them. A wipe then flips the whole unit to white: “The 3D printer that’s easy to use.”, with the Ultimaker wordmark, a photo of someone working at the S3, and a clear call to action to learn more. The contrast does the persuading, so the copy can stay short and the brand’s clean, product-first style stays intact. The animation is built in lightweight HTML and GSAP.
Outcome
One move carries the message: it names the objection, then answers it, in the time it takes to scroll past.
